Found a random switch hidden behind dash

So I took the dash out of my Zero at the weekend so that I could vinyl wrap it, and in whilst doing so I found a random switch taped up and labelled "hide behind dash." The wiring is a bit of a rats nest at the moment so I cant follow it back to where it goes.

Just wondering if any homebuilders had come across the need for a switch somewhere in the loom, that wasn't particularly required, so in theory it could be hidden away.

Its a non latching push to make switch.


Its really bugging me lol so if I dont get an answer here, i'm gonna have to start stripping it back to find out where it goes

Have you tried pressing it?

I have seen some hide a cutoff switch behind the dash, could it be that?

No as I've currently got the battery off, exhaust manifold off, various other bits of wiring disconnected etc so I cant run it.


I'd of assumed a cutoff would of been a latching type switch, rather than a push to make?

On my car, I had a hidden switch that turned the roll bar light into a third brake light, and when switched off, it was the fog light
but now its all done automatically with diodes

I have a push button to calibrate the speedo.

I mounted it behind the dash as once set you wouldn't want anyone pressing it by mistake.

Smith's dials by any chance?

That does sound feasible seeing as it's with the dash loom.

How's that work then?

Yes I have one with smiths dials hanging below the dash. Its to calibrate the speedo

I have a switch on the dash that simply does nothing. I only put it there because it filled a space nicely and I might want a switch there in the future. I labelled it 'passenger ejector seat'. Lots of people have sat in the seat and pushed it.

my hidden switch is a useful anti theft device.. disconnects the fuel pump!

The wiring loom that I had in my Tiger Cat could be used with an auto box so had connectors to which a switch could be connected or just join the wires.

i have used such switches to add a little security to my car....you need to press them to start the car with the key as well
