ECU wiring

My emerald ECU has a number of outputs (fuel pump and shift light etc) which are described as "switched ground".
Does that mean that the corresponding ECU pin is acting like a closed switch and when activated will allow current to flow to ground?

So in the case of the fuel pump relay for example I could apply a 1A fused 12v to pin 85 then route 86 to the switched earth pin in the ECU? which would when activated short pins 30 and 87 on the relay for my 15A fuel pump supply. Is that right?

Not messed with the sparks side of things too much in the past??!?

Sounds about right, the ECU pin will become grounded when active so it can be used to energise your relay as you say.

Which Emerald ECU do you have? I may have a wiring diagram for a K3
