My mates just got himself a new Sports2000 vandiemon race car, but part of the floor is worn away and i'm not sure what it's made from it's basicalyplywood but a very dark brown colour to it, and it seems a lot tougher than normal

Google Phenolic coated birch plywood as used in trailer floors 12 & 18mm thick.

It is probably Jabroc, found on my car amongst a lot of race cars. I have a car similar.

I have a steel welded floor. The only question I have before replacing it with riveted and bonded ally, is how structural is it exactly??

jabroc or phenolic ply

mostly its just to form a flat floor off the sides of the structural center chassie but it does also hold up the rads, oil cooler fuel swirl pot and help support the side pods and rear bodywork

looks like phenolic ply at the moment only reason for replacmeant is it's been hanging down due to missing fixings where the oil cooler lives and almost worn through

My steel floor only goes as far as the edge of the chassis, and Jabroc is elsewhere, holding rads, battery and fire bottle up. I figure I can save 25 kilos of weight tho, by getting it all in ally. What engine is in your car and do you have pics?
