Portable bead blasters

Peeps,

I intend on using the Beetle as a rolling project and having looked underneath, whilst it's (mostly) solid, it also needs cleaning and painting. I keep seeing things like https://www.amazon.co.uk/Improved-Sandblaster-Professional-Sandblast-Equipment/dp/B07QX2RTS8 and am wondering if they are any good. You can get them without the hose so just using the reservoir.

Any thoughts please.

How big is your compressor? I tried a little sandblast gun, painfully slow and my 3hp compressor struggled to keep up. The little reservoir will be for spot blasting.
Any heavy rusty stuff, a needle scaler will be a better bet.

We have a vane compressor at work though none at home (yet )

I do not know if just using the reservoir will work well enough for what you want to do. You would go thru the media far to quick. Why not get one of these

Either way that you go, be sure that you have a very good air dryer and use the right media for the job. Never use sand unless you have to.

I looked into this at home awhile ago and the spec' of the compressor inc tank is everything

I rigged up a test and the compressor I tried it with was nowhere near big enough (it couldn't keep up)

Sounds like Your work one would sort it though

They are rusty cars and if it is rusting then it will be way worse than it first looks. I've had passable ones which when with a proper look I could rip the sills off with my hands! tbh I'd be too scared to go in a UK one unless it's had a full body off rebuild...

As for bead basting one as a runner well your going to end up with grit everywhere, like in the engine, interior, suspension... you might as well just drive it in the desert and bury it in the sand.
