New (hopefully) striker owner
JayStriker - 2/1/17 at 10:56 AM

Hello all,

I should hopefully have a Raw Striker in my possession very shortly!

Here is what I know:

It was build last year by Raw. Car is practically unused.
Its a 2.0 blacktop Zetec (2000 year apparently), which is running twin carbs.
It needs an IVA, Raw are apparently happy to take the car in, get it up to IVA spec, then stick it through the IVA for me.
I know the carbs are going to be a problem with the IVA, but the seller seems to think Raw are confident it will not be an expensive or difficult issue to sort. I am going to speak to them tomorrow and see what the options are and what cost. Before I speak to them, what generally are the best options? Keeping the carbs would be ideal for me, so what work arounds are there going to be to get it through the IVA?

If anyone is interested, here she is in all her beauty!
eBay Item

I'm really new to the world of kit cars etc, so any pointers/tips/things to do & look out for will be brilliant!

Thanks alot

I would check the costs of getting this through IVA with RAW as I think the figures quoted in the eBay listing are optimistic.

Also is this a live axle car, as I didn't think RAW ever produced a live axle model just the IRS, therefore it may be that it is an update on an old car that may have already been in the road.

If can get it sorted then the striker is a great car. Good luck.

I have 2 strikers

1 off each sylva and raw, and that to me is defo a sylva not a raw. I am sure the roll bar is thicker on a raw chassis ?

In the early days of RAW (when Mel was at his original site) he certainly offered me a LA chassis.

ian locostzx9rc2 - 2/1/17 at 02:57 PM

If it's a 2000 chassis it's a Sylva one

jeffw - 2/1/17 at 04:25 PM

The, yellow, chassis looks old. Very much like my 1996 chassis.

loggyboy - 2/1/17 at 04:50 PM

Saw a post a few months back on Facebook. For this and an identical one in LHD, both up for a local auction. Apparently they were built for a zombie movie.
I suspect they were built out of old live axel chassis that had been sripped or for cars converted to IRS , so chassis wont be brand new.

Front shocks haven't stood up too well given 12 months since built and little use. Think I would be asking LOTS of questions to confirm the description is accurate.

These are my 17 year old shocks with very little use (ok none)

I was thinking the same. If RAW have seen it then you want to call then and see what they think. It looks like a chassis that is pre or old RAW. move is an early 2000 chassis and looks very different to that.

Rocker design
Pedal box
IRS rear
To name few bits.

It seems the outside has been dressed to see so habe agood poke underneath, especially for cheap and easy repairs.

5k seems alot for an oldish chassis that is not IVA.

See if someone on here, or a friend with kit car experience can go and view it with you. Also dont be afraid to walk away if your not comfortable with it.

Just my personal thoughts and I dont want to put a downer on your purchase which you are obviously very happy with. This site has nobody that habitually knocks or slats cars. We are a very honest batch that like to make sure our members enjoy kit cars.

Thanks a lot guys!!

Luckily I haven't paid any money out (except a £100 deposit) so I can still pull out.

You are all right though, something definetly does not seem right now things have been pointed out.

I'll speak to raw tomorrow, see what they know.

Really appreciate this guys, thanks a lot! Anyone in there Hereford area wanna go have a look for me? Haha!

It was Raw posting them on facebook a few months ago, I was under the impression it was them selling, either way they are well aware of them so should be able to help.

I've just found that post on facebook, and it's the same photos the seller has sent me. He lives up the road from Raw. The plot thickens!

SCAR - 2/1/17 at 08:03 PM

Bit of a mystery here.
According to BRIGHTWELLS it sold at auction on 8th December for £4600

JayStriker - 2/1/17 at 09:50 PM

It turns out I've slipped up a bit! On the ad it does say it's based on a 2000 kit! I'll talk to Raw and see what they say & think. Depends on the extent of work that was done last year too?

alfas - 3/1/17 at 02:06 AM

Brightwells auction results say it was sold for 4600 and its LHD twin for 3200

jeffw - 3/1/17 at 10:39 AM

It is a 2000 Sylva Striker which RAW must have put a new body on.

Ugg10 - 3/1/17 at 11:34 AM

Another thread on Pistonheads discussing the same thing -

alfas - 3/1/17 at 05:33 PM

i would keep the fingers off that car....

alternative: car incl. IVA test for 5k

[Edited on 3/1/17 by alfas]

ian locostzx9rc2 - 3/1/17 at 05:43 PM

I wouldn't spend 5k for it you can buy a really nice road legal striker for 6 to 7k

loggyboy - 4/1/17 at 05:13 PM

Maertin from Raw just emailed me

...would you be kind enough to message him to phone me
because as of now I have not heard from him. I will then give him all the
genuine info he requires instead of him relying on postings that maybe
leaning away from the truth.

So give them a call Jay!

alfas - 4/1/17 at 09:59 PM

oh.....there is a different truth?

facts are:

car sold for 5k
car is not road registered
car needs IVA
chassis looks pre2000

so which is the different truth??

oh...and RAW has has time for sending emails for such an unimportant thing...but they cannot reply to emails for spare parts sent from clients.

ian locostzx9rc2 - 4/1/17 at 10:23 PM

Does anyone know how use a phone these days after the last two posts or are they used for everything else . If you want information it's much better to speak someone surely as for Martin at raw he's a very helpful and knowledgeable chap just ring him please ...

alfas - 4/1/17 at 10:30 PM

i believe what you say...but why RAW has time to reply INSTANTLY to a question of somebody asking about a car which is not in his possesion but on the other side they are not able to reply to 2 emails sent nearly 2 months ago for spare parts?

they also have time updating / posting pics on facebook....but they dont have time answering emails from clients?

they use the medium internet for their purposes, but if a client is contacting them "electronically" they are not able to reply?

I see that it's back for sale on ebay

RAW Sylva Stiker Kit Car Built by RAW in 2015 on a 2000 kit Perfect track car

alfas - 13/1/17 at 12:43 AM

(a bit off topic) just to inform you : RAW has meanwhile replied to my enquiry as described above.

Hammy360 - 17/1/17 at 06:12 PM

I would stay MILES away from this car, it is being talked about everywhere and the story stinks! Adam has unknowingly given it 'free publicity" in the latest Complete Kit Car magazine.
Demand and wanted ads fro Strikers seems to be on the increase and I like many others get email alerts when one come on the market. Its definitely a Sylva (good thing in my mind) but has a dodgy spray job and un IVAable (is that a word?) engine set up.

The whole thing stinks and is a huge risk IMO, not what you'd call 'an honest little car'

Im sure we'll see either a breaking for spares or seperate parts ads soon. Ive heard people are asking for Sylva VIN plates too which may just be coincidence
