My wife is pregnant!!!
Steve Hignett - 24/8/09 at 07:01 PM

Hi All,

I know it's customary to wait until you are 12/13 weeks pregnant before telling the world about it, and that's what I was planning to do!

BUT, after a small scare yesterday, the 12 week scan was brought forward (only by a week) to make sure everything was ok.

So Milenah (my Much better half) and I went for her scan today.
The scare was dismissed immediately thankfully, and the scan showed a little thing 27mm long - in pregnancy terms that's 9 weeks and 2 days apparently!

So, it's nowhere near the 13 week point, the previous dating by the midwife saying she should have been around 11 weeks now was obviously just off, but because we've had some good news about the health of the baby so far, I thought I would share it with you all anyway

Thank you to everyone that's offered words of wisdom, because I spoke to a lot of people when thinking about having a baby or not, it has been appreciated, and I'm convinced that you were all correct to talk me into this as a great thing to do.

The nurse saw the heartbeat immediately, which dismissed the scare, but the little thing was pretty motionless at first, then all of a sudden waved it's arms and legs about for a minute

The photo below is just a photo of the sonogram scan, so obviously won't win any prizes for clarity, and because Milenah and I know where we are looking we can make out features and so on, but please don't laugh at me for putting it up if you can't see anything

Cheers,
Steve

Well done. Im glad you took sod all notice of our u2u's a few months ago.

You wait till the birth! Its the best thing in the world. For them few hours when you are in the hospital, nothing in the world matters more that spending the first few moments with your new family.

Dont worry about anything, I would never change a thing.

Once again, its fantastic news.

Matt

mookaloid - 24/8/09 at 09:20 PM

lexus - 24/8/09 at 09:52 PM

Many congratulations to you both. It's 38 years since I encountered the emotions you have for the first time....but the memory is as fresh today. But you need to think about 1) ensuring your wife is named as the main driver! 2) a sound deadening kit. 3) A liquid spill kit and 4)a master 'OFF'switch for the wee one! Have a ball-your life now has an additional and unique purpose.

A bit late to the party on this post, but FABULOUS to hear confirmation.

Well done Mr & Mrs H.
