OT Question: Airgun Cylinder
ash_hammond - 7/10/10 at 06:15 PM

Guys,

Off topic question but i know there are some AirShooters on this forum.

My friend is selling his 3 litre 232bar bottle diving bottle. Its about 10 years old, its out of test and there is no A Clamp with it (I have my own).

I dont want to jiff him on the price as he is a friend, on the other hand dont want to pay over the odds. We both have no idea what its worth.

To test the bottle its between £35 - £40

Any ideas?

Thanks

Apologies for the slight hi-jack but how much do these cost to be refilled and how long do they last?

I've got a rifle I haven't used in years that I've only ever used with a stirrup pump (hard work).

If I could get a divers bottle setup sorted for not too much cash I might gather the enthusiasm to use it again.

Is the A-clamp to rifle fitting about £50?

They cost around £2 to be filled.

I got my A-clamp for £35 second hand from a diving shop.

How many recharges do you get from the bottle?

Is it as simple as 200cc in the rifle, 3litres in the divers bottle so 15 fills? Or can you only use a certain percentage of it due to the pressure drop?

Can't remember even which model I have.

Think its a BSA but although its not been used much has got to be at least 5years old if not more. Its got a bolt action and a two shot magazine (if 2 pellets can be called a magazine!) that slides from side to side.

Its not a current model as just had a quick look...

I dont think there is any science behind how many fill you gets. Some times i just top up a little, some times its a complete fill.

I would they 15 - 20 fills/part fills from a 3 litre is normal.

I'm no expert.

Unfortunately its not worth much untested and as stated earlier £90ish new...offer him £60 quid once it's been tested, that way your not going to lose out.
I've had my bottle 7 years and it's not filling to max pressure, but I'm tight so I'll get another year or so out of it, then I'll get it refilled and I might even get it tested at the same time! I did condsider getting a 4 stage stirrup pump but soon went off that idea after trying one out!
