Removing chrome for painting
Thinking about it - 30/7/12 at 09:16 PM

I have a chrome plated bike frame that could do with chrome plating due to some pitting. However it seems cost prohibitve unless anyone knows a reasonable chrome plater willing to do this type of work. It seems it is too time consuming and awkward to polish the metal in preparation for the chroming.
My other option is to remove the plating and paint.
What is the best method shotblasting, chemical strip or whatever? Obviously not a diy job so looking for what type of sevice I need.
Anyone on here do this sort of thing?

I think it needs unchroming!

A chrome or metal finisher will be able to remove that and re apply the finish you want. At work we give our finisher all sorts of crud to clean up and finish.
