All good replies
As I was putting the bog roll in the freezer in preparation for the aftermath of tonight's curry I discovered this in the utility room freezer

So decided to "have at it" with available tooling

leon51274 - 10/5/14 at 02:18 PM

Perfect beer fridge!

SPYDER - 10/5/14 at 02:33 PM

Been there. Done that. Punctured the thing. Hisssssssssssss....
Bugger!

On the plus side I did release a pack of fishfingers of unknown vintage from its icy coffin.
Sell by date was in Latin.
Fishfingers sandwiches are ace.
Only on white bread though.

Ditto that, and it was the office freezer. I blamed it on the fact the ice had expanded and burst it!

It was a reasonable lie as we ended up with a chunk if ice the size if the freezer compartment, 50x50x20cm.

Fish fingers, white bread, Heinz ketchup - perfect combination.

Andi - 10/5/14 at 04:00 PM

used to do that, but found dragging it outside with a hose to the warm water tap left fewer expensive new freezer bills.

Looks like my dentist's tool kit
At least it feels like it when having a tooth out

steve m - 10/5/14 at 05:57 PM

some brilliant replies !

I use a hotair gun when I defrost a freezer, until it gets very watery, and then just leave it to defrost itself

Custard?

SteveWalker - 10/5/14 at 09:54 PM

For the future, may I recommend ... a steam wallpaper stripper!

I just unscrew the flat plate from the end of the hose and hold the metal fitting with a rag, but some actually come with nozzles for this very task. No danger of puncturing refrigerant tubes, cracking internal linings or bending shelves.

JoelP - 11/5/14 at 07:10 PM

Hair dryer worked for me the other day. The warm water drips down and melts it all.

snapper - 12/5/14 at 05:57 PM

Fridge defrost update........

I had left the cooling setting on No.9 (lots) and have just managed to unstick my lips from a glass of Cider
Bloody freezing
Have now reduced cooling to 6
