Find me the material that makes pop up tents "pop up"

Thought I would ask the collective.

In my spare time (if there is such a thing!) I am trying to make a pop up tent thing for my daughter. I want to purchase, what I think is, PU pipe or rod used to create pop up tents.

I want 5mm or less dia rod that can bend to a tight radius. It needs to want to return to straight to create the pop up force I need. I want it to be non brittle and non kink. Oh and cheap!

What can you guys find?

Argos do a 2 man pop up tent for £20. If you really want to make your own you could butcher the poles from one of these...

I thought it was flat spring steel fixed in a loop? Certainly my pop up tent is basically a 'figure of eight' that forms the edges of the tent and allows it to fold down and spring up.

It's about 5mm wide, 0.5 mm thick?

Yes its a flat metal bar formed it to a flat disc like loop.

They are cheap as chips, unless you NEED a bespoke one will be cheaper to buy mass produced.
