I am pretty sure than the motorcycle one has been involved in a loop the loop of the driver before!
I would prefer to slide rather than flip!!!

They are called monowheels. The trick is to brake gently. If you lock the wheel up, you don't skid, you just spin round with the wheel. Think Scooby doo in a tumble drier. They made some on scrapheap challenge one time.

Remarkably easy to balance on once it's moving. If you start to fall forward, the extra pressure on the pedals pushes the wheels back underneath you. You brake very (!) gently

Also consider that a quick getaway is a clever trick to master, much too fast and you'll spin around the wheel and fall over, too fast and you'll climb the wheel and end up looking at the sky as you accelerate (and probably not in a straight line). You'll still need a helmet though as it is still a motorcycle.

I used to have a monocycle. When I first started riding it I found that the backwards/fowards thing was easy, but I kept falling of the side.
