Sneaky,I thought the camera vans had to be marked as such,to give us at least a sporting chance ,

That was on Pistonheads a while back I think. In North Wales IIRC - there was one in Derbyshire a couple of weeks ago that was disguised as a blue builder's van. I think someone on there reported them to themselves, as it was registered as white, and they hadn't re-registered it.....

Apparently it's an ACPO guideline that the should, but not a legal requirement.

There was also that blue builders van that Pistonheads flagged up a few weeks back.

My boss has just got an NIP for an offence in Newcastle. He said he didn't see a van, and when we looked on the info on the website about his offence, it turns out they are using a Mondeo Estate as a camera van! (Parked up on private land incidentally, where they would have to drive across the pavement to park)

There is a logo on the bonnet, but you'd be hard pushed to see it from any distance at all, and the back door has red & yellow chevrons on it, but it looks like any number of highways / network rail / utility company vans from the back.

that horse box has a kind of 'done on paintshop' look about it...

tks - 12/5/08 at 01:58 PM

over here they converted some kliko wheelie bins...

but hey its just a small trick wich engraves itself in my head...

i mean, when i see a kliko standing alone it warns me...

when in the uk i will see a horsetrailer etc.. it will warn me..

also you see the heads from the guys...

Tks

i'd smash right into the back of it, or at least clip it

Russell - 12/5/08 at 05:22 PM

I've been living and driving in north Wales (close-ish to where the horse box was filmed, incidentally) for 27 years and never had a ticket yet.
Don't believe all the bad press you read about speed cameras in north Wales, it's far worse elsewhere.
Funnily enough, I've found that if you don't speed then you don't get speeding tickets!!

tom_loughlin - 12/5/08 at 06:09 PM

In North Wales, You'd struggle to break any speed limit at the mo, due the appauling state of our roads.
Just aboput proves to me that speed traps are nothing to do with road safety, and everything to do with revenue.
I hate them
