to Australia
My GF and I got the visas through and handed in our notice a week ago. Now we fly to Melbourne on the 8th July.
We've both got jobs with Ford and start work on the 14th July.
Just felt the need to be a little smug
Chris
Jammy git as i love oz!!
NZ is looking good to my wife and I at the moment...
Don't blame you,I wish I was a few years younger,good luck
so what happens to the toy car???
Can you register them in OZ i thought they had all sorts of hoops that made it really difficult (but not impossible)
No you can't look after it!
Its going to stay here for a while until we decide what we are doing long term. When we decide to stay out there I'll get it shipped over.
It is very difficult to register a kit car over there but taking it as a personal import make life a lot easier.

my wife wants to move to florida! Lucky i like the place too
i've just bought a holiday home in cyprus to be nearer to my parents, i plan to move there when its paid for.
good luck with your move
I went to Australia once and got burnt to a crisp in 15 minutes on the beach.
Apart from the lack of people I can think of no reason to live there. Asked my bro (who's been there 15 years) once about the weather - he said
it was 40 deg C.
"Bit hot". I replied. "We've got air conned cars, houses and offices."
"Thought about living somewhere a bit cooler!" I said
Saying that a friends bro went 18 months ago and he sold his house over here fairly soon after arriving there, so maybe it's just me
Chris, wish you all the best out there.

Already got our quota of Yorkies thanks..
(just to see if Paul's reading..)
Chris,
When you come on over to God's own country, don't forget to keep up with all the Clubbies on OzClubbies :-
http://www.oz-clubbies.com/forums/
Great site - great place too!!
Lucky bugger, i want to live there, but until the inlaws die or move with us, my mrs wont go, even though the rest of her family lives there. My
parents would though , we lived there for a while when i was a baby, but then again, ive live all over the place, dad was in merchant navy.
Good luck though, Brisbane is fantastic, thats where we say for our holidays sometimes.

No, it's not just you. While I wish those who emigrate all the best, I have never felt the slightest urge to live anywhere else.
John
Oi, Nuneatons not that bad .....
Well my bit isn't, i don't actually go anywhere else and always take the quickest road out of the place.
G/F saw the council tip the other week. I had to try and explain the 'nipple'.
Congrats on getting the visas through Chris, hope all works out well. Will you make it to the June/July Sylva Meets...? Would be good to see you...
and I think everyone will want to buy you a drink!
Cheers,
Neil
I've got the passport, and will never let it go! (And yes, I am planning on going back to live out my twilight years, after my youngest has
finished uni.)
Re importing the car...If you've owned it and had it registered here for more than a year, then getting it into Aus and registered will be a
whole lot easier than building and registering one in Aus.
Also, depending on spec, it could be worth anything up to 4 times what it is here, once road legal in Aus.
Good luck, and enjoy the Melbourne weather. Four seasons in one day in summer, when the southerly's come through. You need to be a little
further north, and no need for aircon either.
Cheers,
Syd.
Cool, have fun.
I lived for 4 years in Canada and wouldn't have missed it for the world.
Only came back as the missus got homesick for her family.
Only advice is to live like a native, it's too easy to spend all your time in an expat community ignoring the locals and complaining that tea
bags aren't what they are in the UK, the weathers too hot/cold/windy/unpredicatable/predicatable/changeable and watching only fools and horses
reruns on the bbc world service.
Good luck

Thanks for all your comments...
Neil - hope to be there tomorrow night. If today's weather holds out then definitely so and in the Phoenix.
Birt - I'd bring you soem sausages but i don't think 24hours on a plane will do them much good. Nor will the Aussie customs officials do
much good to me if I try and get them in!
MikeR - sorry. But when I'm asked what Nuneaton is like ,the best thing I can think of is how easy it is to get to other places
Rats does this mean I`ll have to go half way around the world to get my megasquirt sorted next time I fudge it up..............
Good luck to ya - I hope its all you dreamt it would be
Well done on the visa's.............
Ive been in Brissie for just over 2 years now, and as has been said before, it is different down here, however the sooner you start to think like an
Ozzie, the sooner you'll settle in. Mind you, I spent nearly 10 years in Hong Kong before here, so Im used to living somewhere other than
England.
However, since coming here Ive changed from keeping an eye on England teams to supporting 2 teams, England and anyone playing Australia because of all
the pomme bashing, especially with cricket.
(Bit colder down there as well, so pack some warm clothes)
Check out here for
importing your car
ETA, spoke to the Fury imported herea year or more ago and he offered me an ex-demo car for AUD35, 000
