Paddle clutches??
t16turbotone - 13/12/09 at 07:35 PM

Hi peeps, spent the day getting the engine out again due to cutch slip. I have removed the old cover and plate and it looks ok apart from cover looks 'blued up' in places. Im thinking of upgrading to cerametallic paddle clutch anyone using one? Still slightly sceptical about why my 215mm clutch plate slips under boost. Duratec/zetec boys-what diameter plate are you using pls? any advice anyone?

thanx

228mm on my VX

220mm

CP3560-2 competition spec cover (rated to 230lbft). Fots any ford 220mm flywheel (st150, cvh, zetec etc)

CP5351-1 friction plate. Uprated pinto item.

These are the bits recommended by AP for my engine when I spoke to them.

If you still get slip then a cerametallic paddle plate will increase the capacity further CP5354-38.

thanx for replies, ime using a weird rover flywheel which is making upgrades difficult. Thinking of re-surfacing flywheel and fittin different clutch completely

I had problems with slipping clutches due to excess torque. Got a 6 paddle plate (plate only) from ebay in usa in the end. No problems since, occasionally it slips for an split second but then grips harder than ever.
Hope that helps

Are you certain the release bearing is fully releasing the clutch?

6 paddle clutches can be very driveable, just with less clutch movement.

I use an ap clutch and found it easy. Alcon are meant to be the most progressive.
Thanks

I've heard good things about Helix who can do a mix/match to get the best performance.

BTW - Zetec turbo and using a stock Focus RS clutch..
