Xflow 1300 vs 1300 GT - different head castings?
ShaunB - 30/10/10 at 05:56 PM

Can any tell me if the larger valved head fitted to the 1300GT xflow is just a standard 1300 head with larger valves/seats fitted or is it a different casting/part number?

I'm building a spare race engine, but the spare GT head I have has been ported and hence not allowed under the Locost regulations.

Cheers,
Shaun.

The only different crossflow head (ie with bigger valves) is a 1600 GT - a 1300 GT head is bog standard. I used to build 750MC Locost engines so know 1300 xflows inside out

What are the differences between 1300 and 1300GT crossflows then?
Carb and inlet manifold, what else?

The GT has a longer duration cam IIRC.

Thanks for that info, I knew the 1600GT head was different, so assumed the 1300 was too. So I just need to get hold of an unmodified 1300 head. Anyone got one they no longer need?

Flywheel was lighter, same weight as the 1100, but with the larger 1300 clutch face.

From recollection going back 40 years the GT heads had a slight bowl in them whilst the standard heads were dead flat.

I have a complete cross flow head left over from when I ran a cross flow, it is complete with rocker shaft and cover and appears to be in good unmodified condition. If you still require one let me know.
