As i have just sold my kit car im pondering on my next project, i would love a mk1 or 2 escort but i cant afford one so im thinking about a chevette, i have a spare pug 2l turbo engine so im thinking of using it i know that i can use pilot mounts and gearbox but im unsure of the ratios of them as i cant find out any info on them people are saying they are also used in landrovers and sd1's??

LDV vans used both lt77 gearboxs as did landrovers, they changed to r380 at a guess around 1989 only lt77's in SD1 rovers.

If you can work out which one you have then goggling lt77 ratios or r380 turns up plenty of results.

I have a sneaking suspicion that its the R380 box used in the Pilot (from idly reading about them in a Convoy/Pilot handbook whilst waiting to board a ferry a few years ago). Sadly no idea on ratios though...

EDIT: Looks like both were used, depending on year. Still no idea on ratios, although it looks to be a "diesel" set which normally means "wide"...
