For purpose built, Raceline.

If you are after a used motor there is a good breakers in Colchester. If you want their number u2u me as I am away at the moment. I got mine there and know of one other from there as well.

Budget I know there expensive so prob will be unto 7 to 8 k

But would like to get under that

7-8k is a good budget but there's cheaper and more reliable ways to get that sort of BHP.

7 to 8k for 200bhp out of a duratec! Shouldn't need to spend even 2/3 of that imo

I reckon to get 200hp would cost £1500-£2000

I'm looking for about 180 off mine with Bike ITB'S and standard road cams -Bear in mind they are already 150HP out of the box.

If you look on the Dunnell web site the lowest HP they offer is 200, with not many mods

Hi thanks for replies,

Cranky what's the other prions then for 200 bhp plus cheaper then???????

Reliable as well,

Thanks

scootz - 7/9/11 at 08:30 PM

Cams, TB's, decent exhaust, ECU and good mapping will get you 200+bhp on a 2.0 Duratec. You'd then want a decent sump and flywheel / clutch.

Expect to pay £5k+ from any of the usual suspects for that kind of package (they'll all do a cracking job mind).

Or, if you shop around, employ some of the knowledge on this (and other) website, and don't mind buying 'nearly-new' parts, then you could get all that done for £3k (including donor engine).

RazMan - 7/9/11 at 08:38 PM

What about the V6 Duratec then - mid mounted and 230 bhp

Alloy blocked 328 engine. cheap/reliable 220bhp without putting ITBS etc on it. They'll run on a standard ecu too. About £500 for a engine/box/ecu

Or if you push the boat out how about a low mile e46 m3 lump, get one for £2-3k, 340+ bhp. Even budget 2k for management and a custom zorst and your still only half your original budget.

S2000 if you only want a 4 pot?
