Hi Guys, looking for advice re a facet fuel pump. It normally ticks away at a steady rate, but is now going like the clappers then goes quiet then goes like the clappers !!!! Do I need a new pump ???

I cannot see any fuel on the floor !!!! any ideas ? or is this normal.

The little cube pumps are quite basic inside, and a small bit of contamination can bind the piston. You can pull them apart to clean them, but be very careful not to lose any of the springs, and keep tabs on the assembly order. The longer hex section screws out of the body, and is spring loaded. Good luck.

Just a thought... do they go like the clappers when they run dry?

Perhaps there is an airlock or blockage... before the pump. The float bowls having sufficient fuel to keep it running in the mean time. ..?

It has not effected the running I thought the engine would stop, if the pump was playing-up.Revving the engine to 5k and leave on tick over it seems fine. Was just a bit worried if it was early signs of a fault.
