1300 Crossflow with twin 40's

Hi,

I've got what I believe to be a standard 1300 xflow and a set of weber 40's. Is there anything else I need to get the webers working, or is it not worth the effort on a standard engine? I appreciate to get the best I'd need a matching head and decent cam but budget won't allow at this stage.

The engine has the original mechanical pump. I'm guessing I'd need a non vac dizzy and an oil catch tank to start.

Any other tips?

Ta
Jon

Sell the Webers and fit bike carbs? Probably easier, cheaper and give as good if not better performance

Thanks, reckon that's just as expensive as I'd need a new manifold too.

I made my own manifold using a piece of 12mm ally that I had , used an inlet manifold gasket for the pattern , scribed around the gasket , drilled the mounting holes and a hole in th port then used a woodworking coping saw with loads of cutting fluid to cut the ports and outer shape . Used some ally to make the runners to suit my throttle bodies then got a mate to weld it up , total cost about £30

Sounds good. I'm struggling with priorities building the car at the mo. I've just fitted the original carb and the bonnet won't shut. Tried the webers and they're even worse!

Going to concentrate on everything else now then revisit the engine later. Probably will getting going as standard first then upgrade later.

When I originally built my car it had a standard 1600 Xflow with a twin choke weber sticking through the bonnet , I made a bonnet scoop to cover the carb , good enough to get through SVA . I've since rebuilt and modified the engine , it now uses bike throttle bodies , the original hole in the bonnet has been filled in and a new inlet hole cut in the side

Can I ask what you did with the heater matrix pipes? Should I blank them off, or loop them around? I'm not sure if the pipe going into the inlet manifold performs any cooling function?

Sorry for the late reply, the heater outlet on my original manifold went to the heater and the return went to the small screw in Union on the water pump . If your not using a heater I would suggest using a length of hose from the manifold to water pump as it helps bleeding air from the system. When I made the new inlet I made a connection for the heater take off and installed a bleed point as well
