duratec v6 info required
gavin174 - 10/6/16 at 10:45 AM

one of my "projects" is a cologne v6 oval race car..

as the colognes are getting harder to get hold of (especially the way I keep blowing them up)

we have been talking about possibly using the 2.5 v6 duratec instead.

this would need to be converted to run a single 38dgas or 40dfav..

has anyone had any experience of doing this.

is there any difference between the ford and mazda variants..

thanks in advance

Gavin

don't know about the info you require but I do have a 2.5 v6 duratec engine going for free if you want it

Some info HERE
I am fitting a Jag V6 in the MK, ask if you need specific info.

Also fitting a Jag V6 into a Haynes here if you need help

The 2.5, 3.0 and Jag 3.0 are all variations on the same engine - the Mazda engine is a different lump entirely. Out of the 3 variations the Jag one is the best IMO as it has slightly better rods and VVT.

I don't see why it couldn't be made to work; the easiest way would be to use an electronic ignition controller rather than retrofitting a dizzy. The Jag engine has VVT, but if you don't want to use it, it's fine to leave it disconnected.

The Ford V6 and Jag V6 do have different bellhousing bolt patterns and starter motor typelocations AFAIK, so it's worth being wary about that.
