Zetec fuel pressure regulators
cliftyhanger - 21/4/17 at 11:37 AM

Just checking my st170 install in my spitfire before plugging the ecu in.
Turns out the golf pump I have fitted in the fuel tank is pushing out about 3.5bar, but the blacktop fuel rail has a regulator fitted rated at 3.8bar, so will not open. Means the pump will burn out I reckon.

If there a pressure regulator that will bolt on the fuel rail and rated at 3bar?? Or do I need to get an aftermarket type?

Pointers appreciated. Pressing on with the checking process, and the engine should fire when we get that far, but will only run for a short time until the FPR issue is sorted. (and I can't change the fuel pump, unless there is a straight swap available)
Cheers
Clive

mine is and I may have a spare,.

Just a thought,...

Has the golf pump got a built in regulator and so is running as it should, or is it that the pump is faulty?

I had in my mind that petrol injector pumps run at circa 10bar

shouldn't be using an low pressure intank pump on the ST170 Duratec

soon as revs rise you will drop fuel pressure, fit a proper aftermarket Bosch external inline pump

Samepump seems to be supplied to all tehgolfs including the turbos, so should be adequate. I will see if there is a better version.
