Which cbr1000 engine is best ?

So I'm inches away from ordering an mine kit but can't decide on an engine.

I'm now swayed towards a cbt1000 but I'm wondering which year is best or is there a year that needs less modification

Mainly between the rr7 and older and the rr8 and newer

Do I need dry dumps or anything like that ??

Thanks Alan

Well I've gone for a 2016 CBR1000RR SP which will be run on an HRC ecu and a few mods from Andy Bates (water pump delete etc - check out the AB site) - cant imagine it gets better than that

The new version of the engine (2017 model year is as yet untested and AB don't do a sump etc). Seems like the 08 & 09 engines are popular with the RGB guys (regs limit them from newer) so they seem relatively expensive.

08-10 have significantly more power, but if going for that age get an 09 onwards as the cranks were crappy on the 08.
