Electric water pump
goaty - 13/9/17 at 08:16 PM

Hi
Recently purchased mk indy gsxr 1000
It currently runs on the stock water pump so I am looking at the Davies craig electric idea.
Anyone have any views on this?

If it's a must have then I have seen either the small booster pump or the ewp80.
Either with the digital controller...

Any advise?
Cheers

I use one on a rover v8 engined Viento, works well if installed properly as a complete system, i.e. Removing thermostat and mechanical pumps impellers. I run a 115lpm pump with controller though am uprating the pump to 150 as I'm uprating the engine. I wouldn't use the Davies Craig pump as a booster, as they don't like the back pressure caused by the impeller and thermostat being in place and can potentially shorten the life of the pump.

Sorry I don't intend to use it as a booster.
I plan to remove the stock pump and stat

But tueybdo sell the booster pump which is 40litre. Although it can't be used with the digital control by the looks.
So leaning more towards the ewp80 version.

Just really after advice as to weather it's a must have really.
Car obviously has been fine into now without.

Im fitting the standard one that AB Performance sell for the CBR1000RR - which is the EWP 80. Andy at AB has masses of experience of these pumps as he fits them as standard so pretty safe to say the flow will be ideal.

I've also got a digital controller for it also and am planning to wire it in with a live feed so as to continue running the pump after turning the car off until engine temps come down.

Awesome.
Will look to order one. Just need to work out a plug for the factory pump.

Andy at ab is away at the mo I think.
Trying to sort out an air box from him too

Yes he's in Japan - should be back towards the end of next week. Worth speaking to him about a blanking kit also as he does one for the Honda - not sure about the Gixxer.

Do like the air box myself - really seems to pull down the noise as well as giving more power by all accounts. Must get brave and drill mine for the secondary injectors this weekend!

Thanks for the info.
I will get the pump kit ordered today and speak to Andy next week.

We are trying to see if there box will fit my motor.

As for yours. Get them drilled. Can always make it good if wrong....lol
Cheers

Haha well their fibreglassers do use some sort of special resin that can be drilled and tapped for fixings - so want to get this right first time.

If you need any measurements from my airbox then let me know.

Would be handy if you could tell me from the size of the tb mating surface, how much space there is before the box drops down the side of the tb's.
Injectors go in that side of my throttles so Andy was going to check pics I sent him to see if it would clear

I think Andy does two versions (mine is the latest one from the race cars) but the flange is 10cm wide. This fits to the TB's using the original flange cut out of the bottom of the plastic airbox which is bonded to the fibreglass airbox, and then the holes cut out afterwards. I'll try and sort a picture out over the weekend - thanks to Photobucket i need a new image hosting site

That would be awesome thanks.
And yeah photobucket is a pain.
I can send me email if easier
