The difference with clean injectors
bi22le - 31/1/21 at 05:05 PM

Hi all,

I have not posted for a while but still check the site daily. So never far away!!

Hurley Racing, who specialise in 4age engines often mention about their injector cleaning service. I think it could be a sensible thing to do.

I have no doubt that clean injectors will make some difference but I wonder how much? It depends how dirty they are right? I had my car rolling road remapped recently. I wonder if now cleaning the injectors will make any difference. The condition of my injectors was not questioned and flow rate was not flagged.

Better atomisation, quicker bang. Mine have never been cleaned, in 10 years. Many of those years with little use and laid up. I think it could be an easy power boost.

I had some done years ago in a Cavalier SRi130,made a big difference in smoothness and throttle response, but not top end power.

The idle Co was 8% after having them cleaned!

I have had various sets done over the years, but that was the only car I had a back to back comparison on.

I popped in new old stock injectors on my DB7, cheaper than cleaning

Idle and low mid range improvements, not much difference flat out - hey same as above!

Anyway noticeable improvement so worthwhile.

I've always sent secondhand or history unknown injectors off for cleaning & testing, Its not that expensive and at least then you know you've either got or are starting off with a known quantity

i sent mine to Bailey Motorsport and he flow checked them for me, but they didnt need cleaning, which he can do too

I sent mine to Extreme engines https://www.extremeengines.com/ not sure if it made a difference but at least I knew I was starting with good ones!

How much is cleaning a set of 4 injectors these days?
I bought my own machine which gets very good reviews for £215 - an Autool CT150. Yet to use it myself but have 3 sets of injectors to run through it soon
