Erratic idling...

Hi

I have a deauville 650, and its idling is erratic. What should be my first checks, and how are they performed?

It idles only slightly erratically, perhaps a 50 rpm fluctuation. Would carb cleaning help for example?

Regards

Greg

I assume its a 2CV, check for air leaks on the engine side of the carb, simplest way is to spray something like carb cleaner/WD40/deodorant/ around the joints, when running, if the revs increase there is a leak in that area. Otherwise check the carb is clean especially the idle jets.

Phoned the local ramblers club today, but the bloke who answered just
went on and on.

A honda deauville is a motorcycle. I will try carb balancing: I had trouble finding the jets initially so I will look again, perhaps inc. a photo here if I can't still locate them.

Thanks
Greg
