For Sale (not happy)

As a last resort, Looks like im going to have to sell my Mac#1

After the birth of my little boy at christmas, my wife hasnt been well and still cant walk or cant sit down properly, we have spent the last 9 months up the hospital being fobbed of with the NHS

Ended up going private, found the probelms and she need a operation that not done on the NHS. So private for more treatment/operation which is costing a packet.

Bit gutted as ive only used the car once this year and its done under 1000miles.

Couple of questions

Not really sure how much its worth, got bills showing i spent about £14000

Should i tax & insure the car before i sell it

When selling it should i insist that people have there own insurance so they can test drive, dont wont someone having a smash in it on a test drive...?

Tough break mate, so the NHS will leave a young woman unable to walk and in pain, quality!!

I think I'd be having words with my MP and the press.

I wouldnt bother insuring it yourself as you will be selling it.......just throwing money away!

as for the test driving i would insist on them having their own 2 reasons..........
1)it puts off all the "wanna-be's" ie oooooooh lets go and drive a mac

2)its their insurance if they do smack it!

You'll probably get charged a cancellation fee when you sell the car so if it's not already insured, think twice about it.
Make other people use their insurance and check it covers them to drive other cars other than that named on the policy also check that if they can drive other cars what level of cover it offers, it's usually third party only and I'm not sure if you'd count as a third party.

If it's not insured, other peoples insurance wont cover them anyway. Unless it's specifically for that car or trader etc insurance.

It might limit the interest if people can't drive it without forking out for day insurance etc

You can't tax without insurance

Quite even the third party of there insurance only works if your car was insured..

That depends entirely on the individual policy, some require the car to be insured separately, some do not.

Yes it does, and theres a growing number of insurers that dont offer it at all..
Very few will cover other cars without that car being insured..

I cant believe that EVEN the NHS would leave someone unable to walk if they know what thew problem is and it is operable.
(Please don't take this as an initation to discuss your wifes condition further, I am not questioning her condition whatever it is)
I'm just amazed thatyou find yourself in his position and I really hope you can get it sorted, and on the NHS!

I would not let any "punter"test drive a BEC, passeneger yss but drive no way

Best wishes

I have told pam, maybe we should sell your corsa, she gave me a evil look lol.

The NHS just kept sending her to different departments, with 8 week waits to see each doctor, who when we finally get to the date of the appointment and turn up, the doctor is either off or over booked. One doctors said its normal with giving birth, if it hasnt got any better after 3 years come back, he didnt even look at her face to face let alone examine her.

Only just got a date for a MRI scan.

We told the doctors that we have already had a private scan and have the DVD with the results and privates doctors results of the scan, HNS state that because its been done privately there not alowed to view it. So instead the NHS are happy to waste more money on anther one (MRI scans are £1000)

I will insure it and tax it, at least i can still drive it for a while, i have traders insurance for work that covers any car owned by the company or the company owner (me) ill double check tomorrow, think when i asked last time they only wanted £150 to add the car.

On the plus side of the hospital visits, some of the nurses are fit lol

Just for your reference when I brought my car I took out insurance. It was Adrian Flux and they said that if I cancelled within 21 days I get a full refund. They did not allow me to take out any buyers insurance whish is silly. You have to be the owner to get insured on it. So I just lied.

I thought that if I did crash it I would get it signed into my name and make a claim then get it fully repaired. Luckily it did not come to that!!

Shame to hear about the forced sale. You should get a good price for it, thats a really nice car.

If you need a price guide have a look on Pistonheads (the best place to sell it anyway). There are quite alot of MAC1 for sale so good luck.

Track days ARE the best thing since sliced bread, until I get a supercharger that is!

Well all might be ok now, the wife has all of a sudden more or less over night, started to walk again without being in pain....????????????

She is now walking nearly a 2 miles a day in stages.

She just woke up one morning with no pain in her back. She just has to learn how to walk again properly with out a limp. Shes more worried about being able to walk in heels or boots (typical women)

So the car is staying put in my garage fingers crossed.
