XE Engine Belt-Train Help PLease...

I decided to run without the belt covers and made a schoolboy-error by binning the 'back-plate' which has the mounts for the belt-tensioners.

Are there any widgets for attaching the belt-tensioners directly to the block, or do I need to find another 'back-plate'.

Sorry for the cr*p photo...

Sorry, are you missing the back plate that the spring on the tensioner attaches to ? or the posts that the tensioners sit on ?

Afraid you need the 2 posts for the pulleys

The tension spring you can get away with and these have a reputation for breaking anyway
Some folks have had the remains get in betweeen the crank pulley and cam belt

Worth asking on Migweb if anybody has some Posts available or its Autovaux or get some spun up on a lathe

Why not convert to steel non-adjustable pulleys and tension the belt off the water pump ?

I MIGHT have a back plate spare, I'll have to look probably on Friday if you have no luck.

The early back plate is different to the later one. Which one do you need?

Cheers... can you buy the posts on their own (i.e. no backplate)?

It's an early-engine Ben. Thanks for the offer!

I'll give you a shout if I can't get sorted out with posts-only.

Yep

Be worth trying Autovaux first though as they *might* be cheaper
