hi all,
does anyone have a list of parts required to do a c20xe conversion to mate to a type 9.currently running
a 1.8 pinto and as car probably wont be out over summer i may start and gather bits up for it.estimated cost?
i would like to work from a list as i know when i have got everything to begin swap.

ps.would anyone have a c20xe setup complete or near complete to start with?

You'll need a c20xe engine, custom bellhousing, clutch set up, exhaust system, fuelling system, ignition system or engine management and some engine mountings.
Bellhousing can be had from SBD, A frame engineering etc for about £140
Clutch - ford bearing, vauxhall pressure plate, friction plate from early mondeo/focus 2.0 16v may fit, clutch arm to suit bellhousing(rs2000?)
Spigot bearing in end of crank
Exhaust manifold - buy custom or you can cut, shorten, turn and reweld the original vauxhall one, silencer to suit.
Fuelling - carbs or throttle bodies and manifold
Ignition - 1.6 8v cavalier/astra dizzy, coil and amp, or engine management such as MBE, megajolt/squirt etc
Engine mounts - make your own to suit chassis.

Did my swap 3 years ago and here are the costs, lots of ebaying to keep it down

RED TOP CONVERSION COSTS

COMPONENT COST
ENGINE £80.00
BELLHOUSING £120.00
CLUTCH ARM £30.00
ARP ROD BOLTS £50.00
FILTERS, ETC £40.00
T/E GASKET SET FREE
THRUST RING £38.00
MAIN BOLTS £17.00
PISTON RINGS £60.00
MAIN BEARINGS £44.00
B/E GASKET SET £20.00
MBE IGNITION £50.00
COIL PACK £5.00
ZX7 CARBS £35.00
CRANK SENSOR £5.00
INLET MANIFOLD £30.00
EXHAUST SYSTEM £203.00
CLUTCH £65.00
SUMP £15.00
RADIATOR HOSE £118.00
SUNDRIES £100.00

SALES £135.00
TOTAL £990.00

£270 of that was reconning the engine.

If I was doing it now I would definitely go for a black top zetec, all the c20xes are 20 plus years old and well hammered, zetec is newer, readily available, cheap, bolts straight to the type 9 box and is only about 10bhp behind the vauxhall in standard form with like for like fuelling
