For sale - Panasonic Toughbook CF18 Laptop/tablet

I'm selling my Toughbook CF18 laptop/tablet. If you know what they are, you know how good they are!

If you haven't heard of them, they are military spec ruggedised laptops, with a swivelling touch screen so they can be used as a tablet, along with the supplied stylus. The hard drive is contained in a titanium cage, so if the machine gets mullered, your data is protected. They are waterproof, can be dropped from fairly good heights without damage, and really are just tough! The American military use them in the field to fire and track guided missiles, so they are built for punishment!

I've used mine as a garage laptop for the last few years, and found it really good when mapping both megasquirt and omex, particularly in tablet mode, when you can make adjustments on screen with the stylus, rather than faffing with a mouse.

Basic spec as follows:

Toughbook pentium r 1.1ghz 512gb ram wifi 60gb hard drive
Xp prof sp3

It comes with stylus, mains and car chargers, and a serial to usb cable, and the drivers for the cable are installed and working perfectly.

There is a very small amount of damage to the case, nothing that in any way affects the use of the machine, and no more than you'd expect of a machine that's been used in a garage!

I'm looking for £200 or very near offer, plus postage, or you are welcome to collect from greenhithe in Kent, or I could meet somewhere in S E London, as I work in that area

Any questions, please ask!

Cheers

Adrian

I've got one of these for 'in the field' at work. I use it daily and it gets hammered. It's fell off the back of fork lift trucks, dropped out of a first floor window and een used as a step! Great bit of kit, and that's a good price too!

Edit: mines actually a CF-19, but not much difference.

I'm an Engineer Surveyor for a major insurance company, there are over 500 of us using these Toughbooks in the field daily. They get used in all sorts of environments, from foundrys to steel works to quarries and schools! I'm report writing on one daily, and use it in tablet mode most of the time. We use a custom Lotus Notes database for the report writing.

Ha ha, me too, I'm Team Leader for S03! I liked mine so much I bought one on eBay a couple of years ago for garage use. Agree, they are brilliant bits of kit!

Actually on my way up to Hagley Road at the moment for a meeting tomorrow.

Small world!

Cheers

Anyone interested before it goes on eBay?

£150 + postage is a serious bargain for one of these!
