Custom Made Alloy Fuel Tanks

I am in no way involved in the making of the fuel tanks, I'm merely passing on the details of a fantastic ally fabricator

Jamie Start, Fabricator, based in Hucknall, Nottinghamshire - u2u me should you want his email address.

Very reasonable, and fantastic quality, along with photos of the progress should you want them for any reason...

quote:
I bought a Suzuki Hayabusa integral fuel pump, sender & float

Sent it up to Jamie, for him to fabricate a mounting ring on the bottom of the tank, within a swirl pot
Tank being made with vertical baffles

Integral fuel swirl pot taking place, with a 14mm thick ally ring, for it to be blind drilled & tapped for the fuel pump to mount to

Dry fit of the pump, to be sure the float has free movement from top to bottom of the tank, without fouling the sides or baffles

Float at the top, and the gauge will read full... stops its travel about 20mm from the top of the tank

Finished article - very happy chappy

Looks really nice. Just be aware you may get a fault code light up if the float goes too far up or down. I had to bend the float arm and put a clamp on it so it only traveled within the limits of the resistance track. Might be worth checking it before you install the tank as it will be alot easier now. Bike fuel gauges are also calibrated for the bike's odd shaped fuel tank so your gauge will probably not give a true reading. When i installed mine I added fuel at 1 litre intervals and looked at what the gauge said. At half a tank on the gauge I have exactly 5 litres left so I know it's time to fill up quick.

That looks like one hell of a substantial box - the baffles look like 3+mm sheet?!
