Interesting Stuart Taylor Frog Eye Project

Saw this whilst trawling ebay

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Stuart-Taylor-Frog-Eyed-Sprite-Replica-Kit-Car-Project-/221252077539?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item3383a 6c7e3

Cheap at the moment

It actually looks quite nice with the LED rear end

I like it !!!
Doubt you'd get any spares for it now though.

Wheels are too big IMO, but nice looking car.

You're right - the original would have had smaller wheels and much higher tyre profile - it would probably have had steel wheels with chrome hubcaps too! Certainly the original frog-eye I owned had wheels & tyres like that (I wish I owned that car nowadays...).

I'm sure that I've seen that prototype at a show - probably Newark - a long, long time ago. IIRC, even then it would have needed a lot of finishing to make it look nice. The GRP finish wasn't that special, and I think it had been put together in a rush to get to the show.

Yep a nice set of 15s, a new interior, some sort of roll bar and a coat of paint and that would be a very nice interesting car. Put in my watch list.

Totaly agree, a set of 15" wheels would be more than big enough.

Apart from that it looks lovely, I'd like to see a pic of the chassis though. If it has a Locost style chassis, do the doors open?

Chassis pictures in this thread http://www.locostbuilders.co.uk/viewthread.php?tid=176084
Doors work properly - it's going to be a little heavier than a locost all around, but probably around 700-750kg total I'd guess.

I have an original 58 frogeye in the shop now. sourcing parts is taking half the day every day, plus built in problems like bleed screws at the bottom of the rear wheel cylinders, and original thin windshield posts flexing and cracking the screen.

Just got a call from the machine shop, steering arms are ready, replacement steering ball joints larger than original, which are no longer available.
