Sylva @ Forrestburn Hill Climb

Decided that not having a registration plate or tax disc was no excuse for giving it a run round Forrestburn hill climb track.

This hill climb track is run by Monklands Sporting Car Club (MSCC), it is a fabulous little track with lots of driving challenges. See: http://www.mscc.org.uk/

It is about 20 minutes drive from my house and as the weather was brilliant I thought it would make a great night. I was not to be disappointed.

I took the J15 up to Forestburn on the trailer. The night started well, as a load of farmers excrement was splashed over the rear of the car and parts of the trailer before I even got there.

The Sylva was very well received and I was commended on the quality of the build by a number of members. The sound of the exhaust was awesome, the sound resonating round the hills did it for me. Just as well there are few residents! I did about 12 circuits of the track but there are still a number of issues with the car.

Issues to be sorted soon.

* Needs a windscreen
* Engine hunting on tick over but mostly while still moving.
* Throttle not returning to tick over quickly enough between gears
* Oil overheating oil pressure light comes on even although 20Lbs registered.
* Clean the excrement off!

The trailer was a great success but getting the car on to it on my own on a slight slope was a bit of pain requiring much effort. The car only just fits. I have to winch it on by hand and the car is very difficult to align first time in reverse.

The DVLA in Edinburgh said I should have the tax disk and Reg No in the next few days.

Was it the farmers excrement or did he have some livestock?

Here is a short video of your J15 rounding the top hairpin.

Isnt this a feature of OEM ECUs? My kit with Ford ECU is same, as is my tin top, a Ford Focus.

Probably had the sun in his eyes whilst coming up through the walls before the top hairpin.
Sun shines straight down there at that time of night and you can't see a thing with a helmet visor.
