Spire GTR RGB Race Car for Sale

After a really enjoyable first season in RGB, i'm putting my GTR up for sale while i look at what to do next year.

I bought the car last year and it was stripped and rebuilt over the winter, turning it from a class A to a class R car with a 09 blade motor. The majority of the car was also rewired during the build. It's just about to have another engine fitted after the current one failed after my oil cooler split at Silverstone. It comes with 2 sets of wheels, had new belts for this season, AIMS MXL Pro dash with GPS, AFR Digital Gauge, exhaust made to measure by AB Performance and will be ready for you to add fuel and race.

Everyone says it's the best car in the wet and would be a great introduction to the rear engined class for anyone wanting to join the RGB series. The car is based in the Midlands and can be viewed at any time

£11,750 ono or £10,250 without the engine

I am very tempted, if it was road legal I would bite your hand off!

i've never IVA'd a car, is it possible to do it once it's been used? I imagine an RGB car would be a bit nuts on the road lol

I believe they can be IVA'd my son-in-law had a GTR that was road legal. The issue is not weather it has been used, it is that you need to have built it yourself for your own use. You have to fill in an amateur build declaration with receipts images etc. I could strip it down to the chassis, rebuild it with IVA in mind and present it, with the receipts (one of which would be the purchase from you). Alternatively get a dealer to IVA it I guess they have different arrangements with VOSA. If you had all the original receipts that would help.

If you have a pure track car in Scotland there are not many places you can test it. I feel I would need it road legal. Then of course the suspension height would be an issue. Try taking that over a speed bump.

Funny you mention about handling in the wet. When I came to watch you lot at brands and it pee'd it down the Spires looked in a different league.

The rooster tail spray coming off of the back of the car was 3 times the height and more consistant then any other car.

Good luck with the sale. Shame I dont have 5 figrers to spend on a toy!!

Track days ARE the best thing since sliced bread, until I get a supercharger that is!

Thanks bi22le. The race you watched was my very first car race and I loved it, it helped that I went from 15th to 3rd on the first lap lol. I ended up 5th after some of the more experienced guys came past and I did a full 360 spin coming out of Graham Hill onto the back straight.

I'm not sure what ride height the guys that have them on the road set them at. This one is currently set at 80mm, so not mega low but maybe not speed bump friendly

Not too difficult to get it through the Iva. Mainly emissions and noise are the main problems.

emissions and noise shouldnt be an issue. power commander and careful set up. airbox and big silencer and away you go!
i would leave it as intended though.as a race car!

A bit of a bump just to say the new engine is in the car and was working really well at Donington last weekend. The car qualified 5th for the race out of the 33 entered, being the first non GT3 and making all the top 5 cars Spire's.

unfortunately i span out of the race, whilst running in 6th, but it wasn't the cars fault

The car will be racing at Cadwell next weekend. One race on Saturday and 2 races on Sunday.

I've also booked the car in to have the paintwork touched up prior to sale, so it will be perfect again for the new owner. I can also help with vinyl if you wanted to change the colours of the scheme, race number etc

A bit more about the spec:

Best results so far in 2013
Qualifying - 5th x 2 at Donington in September
Race - 5th from 15th on the grid at Brands (in my very first car race)

Spire GTR with modified rear bodywork for less drag but maintaining downforce
Honda CBR1000RR 08
Billet sump and AB bits for a car install
New oil cooler
AP Racing calipers and discs all round
Brake bias
New belts this year (valid until the end of 2018)
Extinguisher fully plumped in (serviced until 08/2014)
Savage switches on the dash
Digital AFR
AIMS MXL Pro dash and data logger with GPS module
AB Peformance stainless Steel Exhaust and headers
Koni 3 way adjustable shocks
Elite MX200 diff
Front and rear roll bars
Fully adjustable uprights (for tracking, camber etc)
2 sets of Team Dynamics 15 x 7 wheels with Yokohama A048's

Great back up from Spire Sports Cars at all the races, who carry and make all the spare parts for the car.

Now my plans are finalised for next year, my GTR is now available minus engine/power commander/engine loom/harness/extinguisher (although pluming and pull cables will be left in). It's basically a full rolling chassis ready to fit your own engine and get racing in 2014.

£9000
