droidboxes

A mate has just got himself a droidbox, I'd never heard of them before. Apparently you can watch films including brand new ones and other TV in perfect quality for just the cost of the box. It seems a bit to good to be true. Has anyone got one and are they any good?

They probably run a program called xbmc which is the xbox media centre. You can download it for android as well as Mac and PC etc.

That in turn has an add on called fusion which allows access to (ahem) recent releases.

The boxes are basic android devices with it all preinstalled as far as I know.

Google xbmc and xbmchub for info

Yep, It's got to be as Kingster has said. I've been running it for years on a modded apple tv. It's no where near as good as it used to be, too many people using it now and overloading the servers. If you are confident with the technology and like to tat, you can find get some good streams.

There is nothing illegal about the software/hardware as they can all be used for legit media streaming. It's all about using it in a slightly different way.

There is one that uses a cloned sky card via a sever which is a bit illegal.

I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.

The software is perfectly legal, but using it to watch illegally streamed content is not.

Hi
Now could be a good time to admit I got an android based "box", could have been droibox, with xmbc preindtalled, and I have spectacularly failed to work out how to stream anything, legal or otherwise!
Good luck

David

My Dad used to do something simillar by just having an old PC connected to the TV but doesn't now as the new tv doesn't have the right sockets and the right wires would cost more than the PC did.

If you don't have any other form of catchup tv, stuff like this is useful for watching iplayer and the other channel equivalents.
