having side panels painted

is it best to have the side panels painted off the car reason being my panels are a real tight fit and the panel has to be bent from the scuttle and then twisted so I can attach to chassis at the lower front.i don't want to get them painted only for it to get damaged whilst fitting.the panels are alloy by the way

In that case I would say definitely paint them on the car. Or have you thought about wrapping them instead ?

just the bonnet and sides (see before and after above)
I know he fitted it himself and the material only cost him £30
obviously he was lucky with the colour match to his existing GRP
