Hill climbing \ sprinting event calendar for south east

Hi all,

After loosing hours on you tube following the bonkers striker topic a few weeks back I want to go and see some hill climbing \ sprinting.

I want to go to an event with a good mix of cars from MK1 escorts (and all fast fords for that matter) to single seaters and crazy other street cars.

Is there one website that lists all of the different clubs dates? What classes or particular events would be best to look for?

I want it to be as local to Dartford as possible so if its wet really cold I can come home.

Jeff Wiltshire is the man to talk to! Although he's niw travelling further to events where competition is a bit more serious. Theres a few events in the South East but as far as I'm aware they are not massive. I'd imagine good wood gets a decent turn out though! There's some serious competition in the midland hillclimb with 5a being a very heavily populated class! Jim spencer runs his Reynard in it and further north where we are there's a great mix of cars but not as competitive as the midland events!

On a serious note, I'd get a helmet, gloves and a race suit, join a club and enter an event! You'll love it and still have plenty of time to see other cars in action

I have not really looked into this but guess that my car needs more prep work. Other than a race suit I am probably ready to rock.

You need a snell sa 2010 approved helmet and fia race gloves to current regs and fia suit also.
There's a road going class limited to 1700cc so you'll need to keep it pretty standard but it would be competative as the class was originally designed so the 1600cc crossflow cars weren't in the same class as the 20xe vauxhall etc.

I am going to be coming your way this year Dan so you lot up north will have to look out

as said above it all kicks off in march, north weald would be the closest and of course lydden in may. Goodwood is great to drive but not much to see. Look on the ACSMC website or the HSA as this one has all of the championships listed.

You need to Jon your local club, Sevenoaks and district then enter the ACSMC for this lot

Helmet, gloves, boots and suit required, mine cost around £700 new last year, done two sprints so far you need to bring a book to read between runs !

My car is sports libre and log booked as no reverse, yours will go in a road class.

It's a shame you've had to go In libre mark! It's a very tough class when the likes of matt carter is around! Everyone's just chasing for runner up spot!

It is a shame, makes you wonder why the radicals are not in the racing class with the single seaters? I end up being in sport libra as well. Not too worry will just have to beat matt (as if) lol

I just want to compete this year, if I drop a reverse in I can go as a road legal class so laziness on my behalf, also thinking about chopping the car about and making some Mallock type bodywork.

The first thing to do is learn the skill, the biggest problem is I can only enter 1 class on the day so it restricts driving.

The Anglesey weekend on early May bank holiday is a fantastic event!
Very slick and 30
Mins to get through full entry in the 2.1 mile international meant 9runs and ruined tyres! Lol

My first event this year will be Rockingham on the 22nd March. There is a Borough 19 event at North Weald Airfield (just up the M11) in March I think.

http://www.borough19motorclub.org.uk/

This is your local club.

I also belong to 7Oaks/TWMC as well as B19. Strangely I never find the time to read a book between runs....My favourite events in the last year where Blyton and Hethel plus I always get a kick out of Goodwood.

My last two events must have been slow, Curborough and Eelmoor, only 2 practice and two timed runs all day so lots of down time.

Car now fixed, wider rear slicks to control spin off the line so looking forward to the coming year.

I,m staying South as will do AMOC sprint and pick up some runs in my little car to fill in, so I expect to see some of you.

Blyton was good for me too jeff!
65.68 and a new class record on 4 year old slicks

You'll also need a non-race MSA license.
