Looking at a Luego Velocity XT - Prospective buyer

Hi,
I'm new to kit cars and I've seen a few I like.
I'm currently looking at a Luego Velocity XT but I can't find much information on them. Are they Sierra based and how much would one roughly weigh with a 2l Pinto?
The other car is a Tiger super six but its very far away and I've read the cockpits are small (I'm slim but 6ft2) so not sure if I want to drive 5 hours to not fit in it.

Also how would both cars compare handling wise?

Thanks for any help

I believe the Velocity XT uses Sierra running gear with standard length drive shafts , the normal Velocity isn't as wide and uses shortened drive shafts. I think you would find the XT to be a better car than the Tiger but then again I'm biased. Even a standard 2 lt Pinto will give pretty good performance at least until you get used to driving these cars, especially if you haven't driven lightweight rear wheel drive cars before.

My velocity xt weighs less than 500 kg with a 2 ltr pinto. It is Sierra based using the standard length drive shafts and 5 speed box. It has IRS suspension. You should fit in at 6ft 2 but it may mean you will need the seat as far back as possible but I think you will find that is the case in most 7 type cars.
I am running the standard injection set up and had it rolling road tested which gave 97 bhp at the wheels. Plenty enough power to have fun on the road with.
Always makes me smile when I take it out.

I have a Viento, which is a fair bit bigger than the Velocity. I'm 6'2" as well and it felt like I was sitting on most kit cars, rather than in them. It was my elbows sticking out of the side as a result of not being able to get the seat far enough back as much as anything.

If you don't make a purchase in the next couple of weeks, get yourself across to Stoneleigh show and then you can have a go at sitting in virtually any make of kit. There also tends to be a few for sale.

Mines not for sale, but if you are anywhere near NG16, you're welcome to come over and try it out for size.

We have a velocity XT running a zetec blacktop, cracking car and it's nice being that little bit wider and longer than a tiger. We have the stainless panels and weigh in at over 550kg but with 221.3bhp it ain't slow 😎

Has bags of grip (more than I expected) maybe due to wider track.

If the car you are looking at has 17" wheels budget to go 15" with decent rubber, changes the whole car.

Also a must. Is get it set up with the geometry and corner weighted, best thing you can do.

The Luego in question is on eBay in an interesting color. Although I don't mind it. The classic seven shape pulls of some questionable colors.

Thats good to hear about IRS, sounds much better than tigers cortina axle. Supposedly it has a 2.1 pinto with 45 webers and some work done to it. So will hopefully have 120bhp. I would consider going to a zetec but it would probably be cheaper to buy a zetec car in the first place. I missed out on a nice Mac1 ZR with a zetec, webers and omex ecu at £5k.

It appears to have 15's, I can't understand why people put 17's on a car this small, looks horrendous (and ruins handling I would assume).

I live at NG17 Kirkby in Ashfield so I could send you a message for a chat and maybe a look at your car that would be great.

Thanks for the help.

Whether you get it or not. Get yourself over to Stoneleigh nr Coventry for the May Bank holiday (Sat +Sun), you will see more kit cars in one day that you see in the whole year.
More importantly you can talk to the owners on the owners / club stands (outside and not in the halls). Then you will get much better info, and some kind soul might take you for a drive in one if you ask nicely.
Obviously each owner thinks their car is best, but you will get more info and very quickly.

Its a FULL day to walk around, and a lot of us camp on site, so we get both days or more there.

I sold My Luego Viento 3 years ago, and regret it. Its now in Germany!

There will be some of us Luego Owners on the club stand which I think is Block 27B.
Check the map on the guide.

If you are keen on Kit Car ownership, you would be daft to miss this show, so close to getting a car.
If you get the car before the show, COME in the Kit car. You will get in for FREE.
Passenger still has to pay!

BTW... if you are going to buy that car, then do HPI check, check you are buying it from the address on the V5, use bank transfer etc etc.
Make sure its not stolen etc.

What do people think of the price so far?
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LUEGO-VELOCITY-2-1-FORD-PINTO-TWIN-45/181712575346?_trksid=p2054897.c100204.m3164&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MB E%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20140407115239%26meid%3D7db292d6169544769833980fcc8fff04%26pid%3D100204%26rk%3D6%26rkt%3D26%26mehot%3Dpp%26sd%3D171754709416

I was going to go to £4500 because at £5k I can start looking at zetec engined cars.
I also don't like that is has private bidding on, maybe I'm just paranoid but nothing is stopping you from bidding it up from a second account.

Unfortunately I didn't.
I went to £4500 and as I hadn't seen the car and the seller wasn't entirely sure of what had been done to it I didn't want to go higher.
