Header tank cleaning

Hi, anyone got a top tip for cleaning out inside of a header tank. Bought second hand and just want to make it look a bit better. Currently in sink with a bit of washing powder.... Hope she not home before me!

I put a handfull of uncooked rice and half filled mine with cold water. Swished it all around and it got rid of most of the gunk.

Cheers

Apparently dental cleaning tablets work as well - not tried them myself though.
