Wheel arches, HELP please

Before I lose the plot and cut off my front stays for the wheel arches....

Trying to fit a 195 50 15 tyre on the front of the Riot but the arches are too low. The only thing I can think of doing is cutting them off in half and sleeving them to extend them, if that makes sense?
Can't bend the out the way without damaging power coat and risking cracking a weld onto the from upright and don't think it would even help that much by bending them.

Am I missing somthing? Ideally don't want to have to start welding them and re powder coating. Have included a couple of pictures, bear in mind that the wheel still has 10mm to go be for its seated.

Thanks
Phil

If your careful and the weld has been done properly you can bend the arm back. Just make sure you support the remaining arm.
Don't be worried about powder coating. I used to freak about paint myself, then I found ronseal thick black metal paint.

Mine were close, not that close but I used 5 mm spacers. However they were picked up at IVA and then they checked the wheel studs were long enough so if you do you may need to get longer wheel studs

Duratec Engine is fitted, MS2 Extra V3 is assembled and tested, engine running, car now built. IVA passed 26/02/2016

If I ran spacers would have to change the studs, but the would still need higher the guards... Fallen out with them big style
