TMXR Chassis ordered

Hi all,

I've just ordered my chassis from talon, got my donor car, cleared the garage and got the forgiveness of my wife for buying the chassis and car.

Now starts the fun job of striping the Mx5 down ready for when the chassis arrives.

Any tips on the striping and build would be appreciated.

When you remove the wiring loom, label everything!!

I started with the interior and the wiring, then once all the metalwork I wanted to keep was gone I lifted the bodyshell off the mechanics (it's only held on by half a dozen bolts and can be lifted with an engine crane or half a dozen friends). That then allowed me to bin the body and then dismantle the rest of it with a lot more breathing room.

I am using a talon chassis although I bought a flat pack kit to weld together.

I removed the body as I found this a lot easier and gave me more space to work.
I managed to sell a lot of the parts I removed to help fund my build.

Good luck with your build

Yup! Tell me about it at least I have my night shifts to plan next steps etc

I've put some bits on eBay but people seem to think south wales is a long way to go to pick up bits.

Nice to know you are another South Wales builder. Where about are you? I'm all the way down in Pembroke dock and that seems like the end of the world
