Coffee table

I feel it's time for a new coffee table.

Nice - glass top?

Been hankering after making a V8 engine block one myself, but the V8 blocks seem a tad dear to me.

Yup. On the lookout for glass.

I was quite surprised at both the weight (very light) and the wheel size. 13 x 13

Who says you need big wheels? 13 inch diameter is ample.

The regs say 13" for F1

Phoned the local ramblers club today, but the bloke who answered just
went on and on.

I just thought they were bigger.

They look bigger on my telly. I'll have to turn the little wheel that adjusts the size.

Not read the regs, but I also assumed they were bigger than 13". Although when you stand close to an F1 car they're smaller than you imagine them to be as well (lightness I suppose).

Nothing in writing, but it was given to a "publicity man" who did work for the Sauber team and he was told it came off Johnny Herbert's car.

This gentleman now lives just down the road and I have done several jobs for him.

Cheers

Years ago I bought some new tyres for my tin-top - in a corner of the garage was a stack of F1 tyres just like yours. Talked about them to the tyre man and he said "try picking one up" - it was surprisingly light, considering how big it was. Perhaps I shouldn't have been surprised, considering how F1 teams were always trying to reduce weight. Before anyone says it - I know that the teams themselves have never controlled the tyre manufacture, but I bet that they collectively hassled the companies to keep the weight down.
