Sierra ignition barrel/steering lock

Ok....I 'may' have removed the steering wheel from my column without the key in the ignition - TBH I can't remember.

Went to refit it and the Ignition key won't turn to position 1 to release the steering lock, which is now jammed on.

Help!!!!

As I can't turn the key to position 1 I can't remove the ignition barrel....

Is there a way to sort this without drilling the pin to remove the old barrel.......and if I have to do this, what do I do to release the steering lock after this?

Thanks

JC

Ha ha - fixed.....hammer time!!!

The latch for the steering lock was jammed on the horizontal pin. A small percussion adjustment pushed it back to where it belonged, followed by levering it up with a screwdriver which freed the ignition lock.

Leaving this posted in case anyone else is as inept as me....

Nice work!

I've heard the hammer referred to as the universal adjuster before - must be true
