Alternatives to Binky?

Well maybe not alternatives, but things to watch between episodes?
I found this series , its probably the first one I've found that I've watched more than one episode back to back in a while. Ok its basically just an engine swap but I get very bored working permanent nights, and if you skip the first 5 minutes of each episode I haven't found it anywhere as near annoying as most of the american stuff out there.

Anyone else found stuff worth watching? Obviously I've exausted most of the tv shows wheeler dealers etc

Oh and I think they've done one about turbo'ng an mx5 that might interest afew on here

I don't have access to youtube at work, so can't send you the link, but if you search for V8 stealth beetle, you should find a great series on a guy based in Cape Town who builds a V8 into a standard beetle body, quality of the design and engineering is excellent. This series is 2nd to Binky in my opinion.

I will edit this post later with an actual link.

ETA here is the link

V8 Stealth Beetle Linker

The kits are available for $18,500.

Oddly enough, just before I clicked on the link I was going to suggest Mighty Car Mods!! It's a little childish in places, but the one thing I really enjoy is that these guys aren't running off a mega budget like some of the other shows. OK they do have some sponsorship now but they don't even rely on Youtube payments that cripple so many other shows. Over Xmas they did a 'movie' called turbos and temples, and I thoroughly enjoyed their trip across Japan. I never knew Japan had a 'classic car' scene, but a couple of places they visited were crammed with the sort of machinery that would make any old timer drool.

The other one I'm watching at the moment is 'This Old Tony', he's actually a hobby machinist rather than a car guy, but the stuff he makes is really interesting, and the way he does his videos have left me laughing out loud.

Have a watch of Retropower's mk1 escort build for Gordon Murray.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nSiG7oNXC6w

There's 9 episodes and things are nearly wrapped up, so probably a few more to come.

Also search for colinfurze on youtube - engineering and entertaining in equal amounts.

Thanks for all the suggestions,I'll bookmark this post for myself.
I'll just add that I got all the way through to episode 11 lastnight in work, and once the guys mate turned up in the later shows I did find it a little childish!,and the shamless plugs for their ecu supplier..... but found the ecu big interesting even with the name dropping

Obfipper I've been onto retropower for a while, partly because they built my mates chevette and partly because you can't have missed it if your into your cars.

Skid Factory is a youtube channel where they fit turbos/engine swaps etc.

If you've been watching Mighty Car Mods you'll recognise some faces

SOUP Classic Motoring (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCl9I7RgD0i7JZ58CK17kKHQ)
You have an Irish guy trying to restore a Lotus Esprit, a Range Rover and doing a few other things. All on a shoe string.
Definitely not the engineering quality of Binky, but entertaining none the less. The filming is very good.

There's always Ave - but not when kiddies are looking over your shoulder, as his language can be a bit ripe! Very funny, often informative, sometimes very annoying... you have to be in the right mood to appreciate his videos...

I've just been watching the clickspring series on the Antikythera Mechanisum...... absolutely the best thing I've seen on youtube.

If I'd seen this back in 1985 when I was 16 I would have been a clockmaker for sure.

Quality of his work and the filming/editing is stunning.

Also watched his big wheel skeleton clock series.

Thanks to monkeyarms for posting that one.
