Holbay 2.4 Pinto

Do you reckon this would be a quick engine???

I bet it wont sell, not on ebay. If your paying that much for a pinto you would want it build from scratch to your exact spec.

Im sure it would make a quick MK2 Escort historic rally car!

I've asked him about the Power/torque figures - we can see if it's any good.

The figure you won't want with the twin 48's is the fuel consumption figure

Cheers

Mark

I know the guy and his sons. He runs a garage business and used to race superstocks. Both the sons race f2 stockcars. The engines been up for sale locally for months. I don't know if it's been used since rebuild ( or when it was last turned over/run).
I reckon it won't sell on ebay either.

If it looks wrong it probably is wrong.

Notice lack of vernier timing wheel or indeed any mention of cam spec.

I fetched some stuff from a bloke in Grimsby a few years ago who had a similar engine out of his Mk2 Escort. He reckoned he got around 8mpg on a rally. He said the engine cost him around £2000 to get it running how he wanted.

yours, Pete

I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.

Unless you were restricted by class rules why would you bother.

I guess it is around 200bhp which could be had for less money with an engine swap and some upgrades. Probably with far better MPG to go with it.

You wouldnt bother unless you were restricted. If you want to be fastest in your class or historic group then you need to spend big bucks on your engine. It might be a pinto but if you have to use it then you have no choice!

I think as soon as you spending more than £500 on pinto for a road car you have to look at other engine choices where more power can be had straight out the box.

Shame on you Nick, I thought you would have known a peg vernier pulley from a standard one. Ask Dermot what they are, he's probably got one or two for sale.
