switch illumination

Hi,
I have searched in the SVA manual but can’t seem to find anything that refers to the illumination of the dashboard switches. I am just need to know if my dashboard switches need to illuminate at night i.e. when the sidelights are on OR if it is okay for them only to illuminate when they are activated?
Just for reference the switches that I have fitted are the durite rocker type as supplied by SVC.
Any help would be much appreciated
Thanks Shaw

IIRC they don't need to illuminate at all.
