Fitting Aeroquip Oil Cooler Hose Ends

Anyone got any tips for fitting the push on connectors onto the rubber hose.

It's a bit tight to say the least.

no sure which ones you refer to but there are quite a few.

there are some that have barbed end (aka fir tree fitting) that are supposed to be pushed on and that is it - so yes, it would be a tight fit - sound like your ones.

using some oil and warming up the hose in some hot water to soften it should help it get on with a twisting
& pushing motion.

if you have angled fittings on each end, mark the hose and connector so that you end up aligning them correctly. I found once you stop twisting the ends on, they get quite hard to twist hence the need to stop when they are in correct position.

although you don't need to put clips on, I did for peace of mind.

Hairspray. Slippy when wet, dries pretty sticky

I tried hot water and oil, and got them past the two barbs, but just can't get them the final 10mm.

Any further ideas???

I always spray a little wd40 in the flange the hose needs to go over, the slide on pretty easy, but are a nightmare to get of again once dried out. never popped a hose in action though.

Yes they are difficult to get on.

I soak the hose in very hot water, clamp the fitting tight in the vice, lube everything up with engine oil and really go for it in one go.

Doing-12 fittings was not easy..........

As suggested by Martyn, Id give hairspray a go. Ive not used it on hoses but its brilliant for putting handlebar grips on mountain bikes, allows you to position the grip quite easily then sticks it on once it dries.
