grazzledazzle - 22/11/09 at 04:44 PM

I've got 7 litres of old petrol, possibly dating back 10 years!
Where do i dump it?! Searched but can't find any answers...

Personally I'd dump it into one of my cars
Even if not all at once 1:10 is
To dear to chuck away

Do you have any garden equipment?

I use old fuel (provided its not got bits in it) mixed in with a bit of 2 stroke oil in my gardening gear...

Or, make a short fuse, set it up in the garden and walk away.....

Burn it?

Mix it 50:50 with some old sump oil, get it in a steel bucket with a rag in to to. Sorted.

Black you didn't mention that
Probably rust and rubber, burning sounds good

Or better still, your neighbour's garden path (unless you're good buddies of course!}

I'd also suggest putting it through a chainsaw / strimmer / lawnmower etc etc.

I have used 5 year old petrol, mixed it with some fresh and used it in the car.
10:1 was OK for me. I couldnt notice the difference.

Basically the higher / lighter vapours evaporate off, leaving the heavier components behind.

Mix it well with fresh petrol and use it in a Non injected engine.

If you are not happy then just dispose of it, not forgetting to take precautions not to get burned etc.

Above just be safe and careful.

just take it to your local household waste site, they have a tank for old hydrocarbons. We're talking about £7 of fuel (more like £3 if it is 10 years old), its not going to break the bank chucking it away!

Ninehigh - 25/11/09 at 06:46 AM

I'd just put it bit by bit in the car, a pint per fill up

Weed killer or spectactular 20sec bonfire.

Battery, fuel pump, injection nozzle, fuel pipe, leaf blower and piezo igniter should do the trick
