tyre weld
MkII - 29/3/09 at 06:43 PM

Ive had a tin of tyre weld in the boot of my striker for about 5 years now (just in case). question is does it have a shelf life?
would it still work if I needed it? should I replace it?, leave it as it is or just chuck it away and take my chances. thanks. m.

When my ZT went in for a service, they used to flog me new tins till I pointed out that the last time they gave me a tin, it was out of date by that service!

The shop is called pound stretcher. That means they stretch the pound and make it 2 or 3 pounds

How true this is I don't know, but I was told that if you give the can a shake every now and then to keep the gloop in it mixed, they last indefinately. Hope this is true because thats all I have done with mine, Cheers Ray

Just bought some yesterday I must have a look and see.

Has anyone ever used this stuff?? how big a mess does it make inside the tyre/rim and what to the tyre fitters say about it??

luke - 30/3/09 at 06:33 PM

Depends on the brand. Some makes destroy the tyre but others can be washed out. If its the holts i think it washes out.

although, i suppose it depends on wether ur tyre fitter is interested in your money that much to go spend 10 minutes washing a tyre out.
