Minimalist tookit?
Now that I am finally about to put some miles on the clock it ocurred to me that I ought to carry some tools around, especially for the first few
hundred miles until the car has had a proper shakedown.
I don't want to carry too much extra weight around so what are your essential tools that you won't leave home without?
I'm thinking:
Small scissor jack - anyone know of a weeny one?
Small socket set plus wheelnut socket
Multi bladed screwdriver
Adjustable spanner
Allen key set
Pliers & cutters
Cable ties
Insulation tape
12V test lamp & probe
LED Torch
So what else?

Packet of tie wraps, tin of WD40, tyre (puncture) inflation cylinder. If all that fails mobile phone, and RAC card. Ray

Leatherman or gerber instead of the plier/cutters as you get a decent knife.
Weed out the sockets/allen keys you never use.
Couple of Fuses
Duct tape

Leatherman super tool, it can crimp as well!
4 way screwdriver
adjustable spanner
Isn't it time someone invented the adjustable allen key? otherwise a fold up set of same.
Gaffer/tank tape, best quality you can find
insulating tape
a few crimps and some wire
a couple of jubilee clips
make sure swmbo is wearing tights in case you need a temp fan belt
Only take a jack if you carry a spare otherwise a can of tyre "get you home" goo
mobile phone with internet so you can seek help on here

if you want to carry a reasonably varied amount of sockets around, one good piece of kit is the socketstik from spectratools.co.uk, it incorporates
sockets in the handle of the rachet, so that could be ideal for space saving.
