Heat shielding Phoenix side pods

Just wondering if anyone has lined their side pods to protect them from exhaust heat?
or is air flow sufficient this if for a road car so sitting in traffic a possibility....

(just about to paint them and do not fancy it peeling off first trip out)

It's common to line the pod with heat protection. My Fury pod is lined with this sort of stuff using a high temp contact adhesive...

Also worth noting that wrapping the headers and exhaust isn't regarded as a good idea as it keeps the gas temp very high and any leaks can then set fire to the pod (it's happened to a few).

Side pods lined with heat shield matting and does the job to protect it from too much heat.

Is the opinion to line the pods completely or just a section where the exhaust silencer is?

Trying to cut costs as I am still recovering from getting quotes for painting 4 sections of fiberglass
(just been a cheap skate having a v6 need to do both pods even with the cheapest material works out to £120+)

I bought my matting from CBS about 2 meters and it was nowhere near that expensive.

Wouldn“t it be cheaper to have screens on the silencers instead?
To create air gap.
This is the way manufacturers shield exhaust manifolds in engine compartments.
My 2 cents.

I'd say line the whole thing and do the side panel as well or you'll feel the heat in the car... well you will anyway but that will reduce it abit. Sorry, I just linked to the first site I checked. There's plenty of it for sale cheaper elsewhere.

Angel, you're right but tin tops exhausts usually have a lot more air flow (and space) around there exhausts.

Be sure to open the front and rear of the pod to get air flow. I also put holes along the bottom (out of sight) and found that meant the pod didn't get as hot when stationary because it allowed a flow of cool air in from below and the hot air out the ends
